Why choose porcelain rather than porcelain stoneware?
Even if the answer seems obvious to tile connoisseurs, it nevertheless seems interesting to prove the reasons. Indeed, the difference between porcelain stoneware and porcelain is a curiosity for many people looking for floor or wall coverings. These are the two basic materials used in many areas ranging from living spaces to swimming pools, health spaces to kitchens and bathrooms. The fact that they are used in such wide and varied areas leaves question marks in the minds of people "at the decision stage": "Is porcelain stoneware a more sustainable product or do I have an interest in opt for porcelain? A question like this is just one of the many questions present in the minds of future buyers. In order to have a clear vision, it seems important to list and explain the main distinctions between porcelain stoneware and porcelain such as their firing temperature, the load pressure from which they are obtained or in still their raw material components.
Firstly, it is important to note that porcelain tiles are fired at high temperatures (1400°C), which gives them greater strength and robustness. Furthermore, their high cooking temperature gives them, on the one hand, very high resistance to thermal shock (-25 to + 300°C) as well as to chemicals and, on the other hand, smoother and smoother surface coatings. stain resistant. Its mass color is whiter and lighter compared to porcelain stoneware.
Then, being pressed at lower pressure, porcelain stoneware tends to be softer and more porous due to its structure and therefore has more water-permeable properties. When used for a long time, hairline cracks occur in their structures and these same cracks constitute environments conducive to bacterial growth, which does not favor the hygiene of the places where they are applied. In the same way, porcelain tiles, for their part, being pressed at high pressure with loads of 7000T (compared to 3000T for porcelain stoneware), have denser and therefore less porous properties, which makes them more hygienic thanks to to their very low water absorption properties.
Finally, porcelain tiles are made up of components added to clay such as kaolin, silicate and zirconium. These same components have insulating properties and due to their denser and compressed structures, porcelain coatings do not conduct electricity, which constitutes a considerable guarantee of safety in kitchens and bathrooms.
Thanks to all these characteristics, we can say that porcelain tiles are the most precious material in the ceramic universe because in fact, it is the one that brings the greatest refinement to the composition and the production process that makes the material hard, not very porous and more resistant at all levels.
At G10 Ceramics, we offer you porcelain ceramic coatings at prices lower than those even charged by our competitors for porcelain stoneware, to the delight of our customers. It should be noted that statistically porcelain is more expensive than porcelain stoneware, hence this unquestionable opportunity for our customers.
